Debbie Buyaki

Freshwater And Community Conservation Researcher at National Geographic Society

Debbie Buyaki is a dedicated sustainability leader with extensive experience in environmental advocacy and youth engagement. Currently serving as Global Co-Lead and Co-founder for Youth for Ecocide Law since June 2023, Debbie is actively involved in various initiatives including being a core lead for the Youth Wing of Stop Ecocide International. Since April 2023, Debbie has authored and hosted the Flight Over Nature’s View Podcast, supported by notable organizations such as The Nature Conservancy and the National Geographic Society, where Debbie also conducts freshwater and community conservation research. In addition to founding the "Let’s Plant Trees Together" initiative under the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, focusing on global tree planting efforts, Debbie has held the position of champion at United People Global and participated in the UN Environment Programme's Major Group for Children and Youth. Debbie Buyaki holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from the University of Nairobi.
