Donella Steel is an experienced finance professional currently serving as Director of Finance at National Galleries of Scotland since November 2023. Previously, Donella held the title of Director of Finance and Corporate Services at Historic Environment Scotland from August 2017 to November 2023, providing strategic leadership across finance, procurement, corporate planning, IT, and several other functions. Donella has extensive experience in finance leadership roles, including Director of Finance positions at Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service and Scottish Natural Heritage, where responsibilities included financial control, reporting, and providing business decision support. Other notable roles include Head of Finance and ERP Programme Manager at Scottish Natural Heritage, Internal Auditor at Highlands & Islands Enterprise, and Assistant Auditor at Audit Scotland. Donella holds a CPFA in Accountancy from Edinburgh Napier University and is a PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner.
