Tom Strong has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Tom is currently serving as the Director of Employer Activation at the National Fund for Workforce Solutions. Prior to this, they worked as the Principal at Open Book People, LLC, a management coaching and consulting firm. At Atlanta CareerRise, they held the position of Manager of Industry Partnerships. Before that, they worked with The Hitachi Foundation as a Senior Program Officer, where they played a crucial role in implementing effective human capital practices for lower-wage workers in primary care. Additionally, they served as a Program Officer and Mita Business and Society Fellow at The Hitachi Foundation, where they managed grants, developed research products, and collaborated with grantees. Furthermore, Tom Strong has entrepreneurial experience, being the Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of 50 Mile Farms, a green venture focused on local food production and distribution. Tom also worked at Sevananda Natural Foods Market as the Education Coordinator, where they organized education programs and provided training for staff members. Additionally, they served as the Board Director and President, leading governance policy revisions and facilitating board meetings. Tom Strong has a strong background in coaching, consulting, program management, and entrepreneurship.

Tom Strong graduated from Reed College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chinese Language in 1999. Tom furthered their education by pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Arizona - Eller College of Management, specializing in Entrepreneurship, Finance, and Organizational Theory, from 2006 to 2008. In addition to their formal education, Tom obtained a certification as a PCV GJGB Advisor from Pacific Community Ventures (PCV) in June 2023.
