Joseph Hughes Schafer PhD serves as a Professor and Associate Dean at the National Defense University in the College of Information & Cyberspace since 2016, while also holding various academic and leadership roles, including Professor and Chair in the same college. Schafer is actively involved in the Compass Rose Benefits Group as a Member of the Board of Directors and has contributed to SoundMind as a Board Member focused on cybersecurity and strategy. As an Executive Founding Member of the Digital Directors Network, Joseph Hughes promotes digital diversity and cybersecurity governance. Additionally, Schafer teaches graduate programs at The George Washington University and is a General Partner at Stony Lonesome Group, a merchant bank. Joseph Hughes co-founded EnterSpire, specializing in strategy and technology consulting for the National Security and Healthcare sectors. Schafer's extensive educational background includes degrees from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, The George Washington University, and the U.S. Naval War College, among others.
