Leticia Ruelas

Education Liaison at National Center For Youth Law

Leticia Ruelas is an Education Liaison in Maricopa County. She has 34 years of experience working in public education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University, a Master’s in Education with Reading Specialization from Northern Arizona University, and a Master’s in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University. She has many years of certified teaching experience in grades 1-8. Ruelas was also an instructional coach whose primary responsibility was to deliver professional development training for teachers. The practical knowledge she gained as a middle school assistant principal serving inner city schools will equip her as she transitions to the child advocacy field. Ruelas is passionate about supporting students in achieving their educational goals. Her personal challenges navigating the education system as a second language learner, and student of color are the driving force behind her efforts to ensure a high quality, equitable education for students experiencing the foster care system.
