Sharon has extensive experience in the education sector, currently serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Education Association Foundation since September 2016. Previously, Sharon was President of the Utah Education Association from May 2010 to July 2016 and an educator in the Salt Lake City School District from August 1979 to July 2010, specializing in special education and second grade, while also taking on leadership roles such as teacher leader and chair of the School Improvement Council. Sharon holds a Master’s Degree in Education/Teacher Leadership from National University and a Bachelor of Arts in Education/Teaching of Individuals in Elementary Special Education Programs from Loretto Heights College.
