Alexis Baldera

Senior Program Manager, Coastal Conservation at National Audubon Society

Alexis Baldera has a diverse range of work experience in the environmental field. They started their career as a Fisheries Management Intern with the USDA Forest Service in 2006, where they conducted stream surveys and participated in regional peer review meetings for stream restoration projects.

In 2008, Alexis worked as a Water Chemistry Analyst at the Duke University Wetland Center, where they monitored water chemistry at a wetland research park and consolidated data for a stream restoration project.

They also had roles as a Herpetology Lab Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin, where they conducted field surveys to assess reptile and amphibian populations, and as a Medical Testing Personnel at Clinical Pathology Laboratories, where they performed medical tests on blood serum samples.

Alexis's experience in the environmental field continued with roles at the North Carolina Coastal Federation as a Restoration Science Intern, where they coordinated community events for coastal restoration projects, and at the Walking Fish Community Supported Fishery as a Membership Coordinator/Co-founder, where they developed and managed the organizational structure for a community supported fishery.

Alexis then worked at the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions as a Researcher and Administrative Assistant, before joining the Ocean Conservancy. At the Ocean Conservancy, they held various roles including Conservation Biologist, Staff Restoration Scientist, and most recently, Director of the Gulf Restoration Program.

Alexis's current role is as a Coastal Program Manager at the National Audubon Society, a position they have held since 2019.

Alexis Baldera completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine and Freshwater Biology at The University of Texas at Austin from 1999 to 2005. Later, from 2008 to 2010, they pursued a Master of Environmental Management degree in Coastal Environmental Management at Duke University.
