G. Edward Gibson Jr.

G. Edward Gibson, Jr. has an extensive work history in various academic and engineering roles. G. Edward is currently the President and CEO of the National Academy of Construction since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Arizona State University from 2009 to 2023, holding positions such as Professor Emeritus in SSEBE and the Director of the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment. G. Edward has also worked as a Visiting Academic Fellow at the University of Cambridge in 2019, a Professor and Drummond Chair in Civil Engineering at the University of Alabama from 2006 to 2009, and a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin from 1991 to 2006. G. Edward Gibson, Jr. started their career as a Project Engineer at Texas Instruments in 1984 and served as a Captain in the United States Army Corps of Engineers from 1980 to 1984.

G. Edward Gibson, Jr. started their education at Auburn University in 1976, where they pursued a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree, which they successfully completed in 1980. G. Edward then went on to further specialize in the same field by enrolling in Auburn University for a Ph.D. program in Civil Engineering from 1988 to 1990. Additionally, they also attended The University of Dallas from 1985 to 1987, where they earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Engineering Management.
