Matt Dempsey is an accomplished educational leader with extensive experience in school operations and management. Currently serving as the Senior Director of Operations at Nashville Classical Charter School since July 2021, Matt previously held the role of High School Principal at RePublic Schools from July 2015 to June 2021, where significant improvements were made, including a 33% reduction in chronic absenteeism and doubled achievement on interim tests for students receiving ELL and IEP services. Earlier, as a Middle School Principal, Matt successfully led a turnaround that elevated the school’s TVAAS score from 1 to 5 over three years. Matt's career also includes roles in teacher development with Teach For America, secondary education as a Spanish teacher, and leadership positions in various marketing and project management roles. Matt holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, Management, and Spanish from the University of Kentucky.
