Dr. Huma Jafry is the founder and CEO of NanoInnovations and works on the development and commercialization of smart nanosensors and algorithims for health care prognostics and diagnostics. She has earned her Ph.D and postdoctoral fellowship in Nanomaterials Chemistry from Rice University in Houston, TX. Dr. Jafry has worked on projects focused on the development of nanocomposites for applications in water purification systems, self-cleaning fabrics, and heat abatement and radiation attenuation nanotechnologies for the space industry. Prior to starting NanoInnovations, Dr. Jafry participated in the Ocean Health xPrize competition and the technology developed led to the formation of the company. Her undergraduate degree is in Economics and Computer Science from Mount Holyoke College in MA.
She currently serves on the board of the Health Science Museum in Houston, and the Sugar Land Discovery Center, and serves as a volunteer within the Ismaili community. She has spoken about applications of nanotechnology at several places, including for TEDx Sugar Land.
