Matthew Elani has worked in a variety of engineering roles since 2014. In 2014, they were a Research Intern at the University of Connecticut. In 2016, they were a Summer Propulsion Intern at Sikorsky. In 2017, they were accepted to the UM Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering (SURE) Program, where they studied the effect of concentration and type of polysaccharide and protein matrix on viscoelastic and non-linear elastic properties of hydrogels in Professor Jan Stegemann’s lab. In 2018, they were an Electrical Engineering Intern at IMRA America, Inc., where they constructed a patent pending LFA biosensor through design of printed circuit boards (PCB), analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and tunnel magnetoresistors (TMR). Matthew also programmed data acquisition, averaging synchronization and control systems for moving stages in LabVIEW and MATLAB, and developed CAD drawings in Autodesk Inventor for production of casing integral to the design and noise reduction of circuitry involved in the system. Currently, they are a Biomedical Engineer (Semiconductor) at NanoDx.
Matthew Elani received their Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering with a Minor in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2018. Matthew then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Michigan College of Engineering, which they completed in 2019.
