Joseph Maroon MD is a highly experienced medical professional specializing in neurosurgery, currently serving as the Medical Director for World Wrestling Entertainment since 2008 and holding the position of Clinical Professor at UPMC since 1999. Joseph is also the Vice Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at UPMC Health Systems. In addition to roles with UPMC, Joseph Maroon has had a long-standing association with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a Team Neurosurgeon Consultant since 1977. Joseph has held several academic and leadership positions, including Professor at Allegheny University and West Virginia University School of Medicine, and Chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital. Joseph began their career in the military as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve from 1966 to 1972. Joseph earned a graduate degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and an undergraduate degree in Anatomy & Physiology from Indiana University Bloomington.
