Angel Fernandez

Angel Fernandez, PhD has held various roles throughout their work experience. Angel is currently the CEO and Co-Founder of MyFloraDNA Inc. Angel is also a member of the Scientific Advisor Committee (SAC) at the National Cannabis Industry Association. Additionally, Angel is an expert at the BioExpert Network, where they evaluate funding proposals for innovative research and development projects in the life science and investment sectors.

Prior to their current positions, Angel worked as a Plant Geneticist Scientist at the University of California, Berkeley, where they focused on gene discovery and utilized gene editing tools such as CRISPR/Cas9 and Golden Gate methodology. Angel also served as an Adjunct Professor in Plant and Soil Science at San Joaquin Delta College.

Earlier in their career, Angel worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Davis, where they performed genome-wide analysis and characterized a population of introgression lines in lettuce and tomatoes. Angel also conducted research in the Chetelat lab at the C.M. Rick Tomato Genetics Resource Center.

Prior to their time at UC Davis, Angel served as the Discovery Genetics Group Leader at SCIENTIFIC PARK AULA DEI PCTAD in Spain. In this role, they directed a plant genomics group and managed R&D projects, including defining goals and developing work plans.

Angel Fernandez, PhD has a strong educational background in the field of agricultural engineering and plant breeding. Angel obtained their Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering from Universite de Lorraine in 2004, and also completed another Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering from Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche in the same year. Angel then pursued a Master's Degree in Plant Biodiversity and Genetic Resources at Université des Antilles from 2004 to 2006. Subsequently, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Plant Breeding from Universitat de Lleida, where their research focused on this specific field.
