Dr. Victoria Hale is a pharmaceutical scientist/executive and global health social entrepreneur. She presently serves as Chair of the Board of MAPS.org. She was founder & CEO of two successful global public health pharmaceutical nonprofits: OneWorld Health (2000; malaria, leishmaniasis, cholera; Gates Foundation) and Medicines360 (2009; contraception; anonymous donor). OneWorld Health was the first nonprofit pharmaceutical company in the US. Dr. Hale is a MacArthur Fellow, a member of the US National Academy of Medicine, and serves on several other Boards. She has been recognized as an outstanding global social entrepreneur by The Skoll Foundation, Ashoka, and Schwab. Victoria has raised $230M in philanthropy for drug development and has successfully guided several new medicines through the FDA and other regulatory agencies. Her drug development experience was obtained at the FDA (US Food & Drug Administration) and Genentech, Inc. She earned her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from UCSF where she is presently an Adjunct Professor of Bioengineering and Experimental Sciences. She lives in San Francisco.
