Mikel Rusk has a strong background in law enforcement and corrections, currently serving as a Deputy Sheriff in Corrections at Multnomah County Sheriff's Office since September 2018. Prior to this role, Mikel worked as a Correctional Officer at the Idaho Department of Correction from April 2016 to September 2018. Mikel also has experience in facility security, having worked for the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Quarter from March 2011 to March 2016. Mikel holds an Associate's degree in Oregon of Arts from Portland Community College, completed in 2014, and a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Portland State University.
