Marcus Fruttiger's work experience includes multiple roles in various institutions.
In 1995, they started their career as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology (LMCB) at UCL. Marcus worked there until 2000.
From 2000 to 2005, Marcus was a Wellcome Trust Fellow at the Wolfson Institute for Biomedical Research, also at UCL.
In 2005, they joined the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology as an Assistant Professor, where they worked until 2017. During this time, they also served as a Senior Research Fellow.
In 2017, Marcus became a Professor of Experimental Ophthalmology at UCL, a role they held until 2020.
In addition to their work at UCL, Marcus was appointed as the Deputy Director of Education at the Institute of Ophthalmology in 2020.
In the same year, they also co-founded the company MTHK.
Marcus Fruttiger received a PhD in Biology from ETH Zürich, completing their studies from 1990 to 1994.
