Artie Maxwell has served as the Senior Pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church since August 2017, following a distinguished career as a Chaplain in the U.S. Army from June 1998 to December 2018, where responsibilities included providing moral, spiritual, and ethical guidance to military troops and overseeing religious programs. Academically, Artie Maxwell holds a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in Christian Education and Worship from Morehouse School of Religion at The Interdenominational Theological Center (1994-1997) and a BBA in Accounting from Savannah State University (1983-1988). Additionally, Artie Maxwell completed training at U.S. Army Medical Schools (Brooke Army Medical Center) from 2007 to 2008.
