Michael Stumm is a Professor at the University of Toronto, primarily within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a cross appointment in the Department of Computer Science, serving since January 1987. In addition to academic duties, Michael Stumm has engaged as a consultant for various companies, including Facebook, since 2012, and holds advisory board positions for Mt. Pelerin and other startups. Michael Stumm has acted as an expert witness in numerous intellectual property cases since 2004 and was a co-founder and CEO of OANDA Corporation from 1996 to 2012. Stumm also co-founded SOMA Networks Inc and served as SVP and CTO from 1998 to 2003. Michael Stumm's previous roles include a visiting professorship at ETH Zurich and a research scientist position at IBM Research. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Zurich, a postdoctoral fellowship from Stanford University, and a diploma in Mathematics from the University of Zurich.
