Vessela Vangelova has a diverse work experience in finance and administration. Vessela is currently working as the Head of Finance at MPI-CBG - Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics since July 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Budget Officer / Controller at the same institute from July 2022 to June 2023. Before joining MPI-CBG, Vessela worked as a Controller at SRH Berufsbildungswerk Sachsen GmbH from September 2020 to June 2022. Vessela also has experience in the education sector, where they served as the DIS Community Network President on a voluntary basis at DIS - Dresden International School from June 2019 to August 2021. Vessela's earlier career includes a role as Head of Finance and Administration at English at Work GmbH from 2001 to August 2020 and an Auditor position at Arthur Andersen from 1996 to 2000.

Vessela Vangelova earned a Master's degree in Economics from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski in the years 1990 to 1996. Vessela also studied Wirtschaftswissenschaften at Universität des Saarlandes from 1995 to 1996. In addition, they attended FEUC - Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra in 1993 and 1994 to study Economics. Prior to their university studies, Vangelova attended the English Language School from 1986 to 1990.
