Janey Pearl Starks has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Janey started their career in 2006 as a Public Information Officer and Latino Outreach Coordinator at the Arizona Department of Health Services. In 2010, they worked as the Communications Director for Goddard for Governor and later as the Chief Public Information Officer at the Arizona Attorney General's Office. In 2011, they were the Senior Assistant to the Mayor Phil Gordon at the City of Phoenix, and simultaneously served as the Arizona Communications Director at Stand for Children. In 2013, they became the Communications Director for Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema, US House of Representatives, 9th District, Arizona. Since 2014, Janey has been associated with Mountain Park Health Center, where they have held various roles including Marketing and Engagement Manager, Associate Director of Marketing & Engagement, and currently serves as the Director of Marketing & Engagement and Director of Equity, Diversity & Engagement.

Janey Pearl Starks completed a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree in Nonprofit Management Certification at Arizona State University from 1999 to 2004. Janey furthered their education by pursuing an Ed. M. degree in Risk and Prevention at Harvard Graduate School of Education from 2005 to 2006. During their time at Harvard, they also took courses at the Kennedy School of Government.
