Rachel Fine has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Rachel is currently working as a Principal Ecologist at Mott MacDonald, where they have been since 2015. Prior to this, they held the position of Regional Team Lead- South East at Mott MacDonald starting in 2020. Rachel also served as a Senior Ecologist at Mott MacDonald from 2015 to 2022. Before joining Mott MacDonald, Rachel worked as an Ecologist at Halcrow, a CH2M HILL Company, where they conducted site assessments, surveys, and provided mitigation support. Rachel has also worked as a Field Ecologist at Ecological Planning & Research, conducting ecological surveys and supporting staff. Rachel gained experience as a Communications Officer at Woodsure Ltd, where they assisted in creating and promoting a new woodfuel accreditation initiative. Additionally, they were a Project Assistant at Regen SW, focusing on the SW Bioheat scheme and promoting biomass technologies. Rachel Fine started their career as a Trainee Ranger at Teignbridge District Council, where they were involved in practical environmental management and educational activities.
Rachel Fine completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Southampton from 2007 to 2010. Before that, in 2010-2011, they obtained an NVQ Level 2 in Practical Countryside Management from Duchy Collage/BTCV. Additionally, they pursued a Master's degree in Ecology, with a focus on Survey Skills and Species Identification, at the University of Reading from 2011 to 2012. Rachel's earlier education took place at Torquay Girls Grammar School.
