Ana Caroline P. Gandara currently serves as an Assistant Scientist at the Morgridge Institute for Research since July 2022. Previously, Ana held the position of Postdoctoral Scholar at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health from February 2018 to June 2022, working under Dr. Daniela Drummond-Barbosa on the physiology of ovarian stem cells in fruit flies. Ana's extensive research background includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where significant contributions were made to the understanding of NADPH oxidase in arthropods and its implications for invertebrate control. During doctoral studies, Ana focused on mitochondrial superoxide production in the tropical kissing bug Rhodnius prolixus, revealing important biochemical processes related to blood digestion. Ana began academic pursuits with a Master's degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and holds a Licentiate degree in Biology from the same institution, complemented by an earlier technical qualification in Biotechnology.
