Carrie Sanders, AICP, serves as the Chief of Midcounty Planning at the Montgomery County Planning Department since September 2017, overseeing master plan and development review functions. Prior to this role, Carrie held various positions with the City of Alexandria, Virginia, including Deputy Director of Transportation and Transit, where supervision of transit services, transportation planning, and traffic engineering divisions occurred from September 2010 to August 2017. Carrie's career in transportation planning also includes roles at the City of Rockville, where titles included Division Chief of Transportation Planning, Principal Transportation Planner, and Transportation Planner from April 2005 to September 2010. Academic credentials comprise a Master’s degree in Urban Studies and Regional Planning from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor's degree in English from Indiana University Bloomington.
