Ed has broad experience in all types of packaging, including metal, glass, paper and plastic packaging for food and pharmaceutical products. Prior to becoming involved in packaging, he was involved in polymer synthesis and product development of chemical coatings for metal cans and architectural building products. He has held management positions in global packaging, research, product development, engineering, project management, plant design, plant startup, operations and manufacturing.
Apart from the technical areas, he has extensive experience in sales, product, and marketing management for specialized chemical coatings. In packaging, he has been responsible for all types of packaging at a major food company, two major pharmaceutical manufacturers and a medical device manufacturer. His areas of expertise in chemical coatings include: polymer design, polymer synthesis, industrial coating formulation, coating development, and coating manufacturing. His areas of expertise in plastics include: material design and development, thermoplastic and thermo cross-linking polymers, thermoforming, extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, laminating, and composite materials.
Ed was named to the Packaging Hall of Fame in 2006. He is also a member of the American Chemical Society, Institute of Packaging Professionals, Society of Plastic Engineers, and a past member of the National Coil Coaters Association, National Metal Decorators Association and the Federation of Societies for Paint Technology. He served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Plastic Film and Sheeting and the board of the Packaging Education Foundation. He is a founding member of the Packaging Management Council sponsored by the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute. He is listed in Who’s Who in Plastics and Polymers.
