Jón Egilsson currently serves as an Executive Fellow at King's Business School since August 2024, contributing to the development of students' critical thinking and research while promoting societal change for better business practices. As a Co-Founder of Monerium since July 2016, Jón is involved in the issuance of asset-backed and regulated fiat money tokens on blockchains. Previous roles include Head of Business Development at the Central Bank of Iceland and Vice Chairman, appointed by the Icelandic Parliament. Jón chaired the Supervisory Board of the Central Bank following Ólöf Nordal's resignation in December 2014. Additionally, Jón has served as a Consultant for the Icelandic Government, Lecturer at the University of Iceland, and multiple roles focused on financial engineering and entrepreneurship through various organizations like Seed Forum. Jón holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Iceland and has been a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University.
