Elyssa Koidin Schmier has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and roles. Elyssa began their career as an intern at Congressman John Tierney's office in 1998. In 2002, they interned at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, followed by an internship in Senator Edward Kennedy's Education Office in 2003.
Schmier then worked as the National Field Coordinator for the Rebuild and Renew America Now Budget Campaign from February to May 2009. Later that year, they joined the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) as a Legislative Representative. In this role, they represented ACORN's 150+ offices at the national level, meeting with Members of Congress, tracking important legislation, and conducting lobby visits.
From 2009 to 2013, Schmier served as the Deputy Policy Director-Domestic Concerns at the Jewish Council for Public Affairs. During this time, they played a key role in shaping and advocating for policies related to domestic concerns.
In 2013, Schmier joined MomsRising.org, where they held several positions. Elyssa started as the Senior Campaign Director for National Early Learning and Budget and served in this role until January 2020. Following that, they became the National Director for National Budget and Taxes until March 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President of Government Relations and National Budget at MomsRising.org.
