Veronica Urdaneta, MD, MPH, currently serves as the Global Lead Clinical Safety and Risk Management for the COVID-19 Program at Moderna, a position held since April 2021. Prior to this role, Urdaneta was with Merck from April 2016 to April 2021 as a Senior Principal Scientist/Physician. Urdaneta also held the position of Medical Director for Pharmacovigilance and Risk Management at Endo Pharmaceuticals from November 2013 to March 2016, and worked at Johnson and Johnson as an Associate Director, Aggregate Signal Detection, and Surveillance Scientist from September 2010 to November 2013. Earlier experience includes serving as the State Epidemiologist and Director of the Division of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the Pennsylvania Department of Health from October 2005 to August 2010. Urdaneta earned a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from The Johns Hopkins University between 1997 and 1998, and obtained a Medical Doctor degree from Universidad del Zulia from 1982 to 1989.
