John Schmittle has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. John began their career as a Human Resource Analyst at Morgan Stanley in 2001. From there, they worked as a Human Resources Office Administrator at Gettysburg College before transitioning to the role of Conference & Event Manager. In 2007, John Schmittle joined M&T Bank as a Teller before moving on to become a Teacher at Grier School. John then worked as a Customer Service Representative and Foreman at National Construction Rentals. In 2015, John Schmittle joined SEKO Logistics, where they held various roles such as Project Associate, Program Manager, and 3PL Operations Manager. John then joined Lowe's Companies, Inc. as a ProServices Sales Specialist. In 2022, John Schmittle worked as an Operations Manager at Centre WISP Venture Company, LLC and later became a Partner Account Manager - Federal/Government at Minitab.

John Schmittle attended Bellwood-Antis High School from 1993 to 1997. John then went on to Gettysburg College from 1997 to 2001, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Management.
