Alberto Agurto is a seasoned petroleum engineer with extensive experience in hydrocarbon exploration and production. Currently serving as an advisor in the Directorate of Exploration & Exploitation of Hydrocarbons at the Ministerio de Energía y Minas since February 2019, Alberto has previously held leadership roles at SAVIA PERU and Petro-Tech Peruana S.A., where responsibilities included optimizing production processes, planning service equipment, and managing departmental budgets. Alberto's career began at Belco Petroleum Corporation of Perú and continued through various positions at Petroperú S.A., focusing on drilling operations and reservoir engineering. Alberto holds a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the National University of Engineering and has furthered education with project management certifications from Universidad Nacional de Piura and Universidad de Piura.
