His research foci include a) examining the strategies that individuals use to cope with cultural diversity with an interest in how those choices have an impact on behavioral (e.g., academic performance) and socio-emotional (e.g., college adjustment, wellness indicators, depression) indicators, b) exploring ways to implement an equity-focused school-based intervention with integrity and, c) understanding caring as a counterpoint to a polarized community by seeking to integrate the worlds of civic education, character education, social-emotional learning, and equity in a way that centers an ethic of care, a focus on the development of one’s own and others character, and the building of caring communities in which the youth are raised and become leaders.
