Katrina Laks has held various roles throughout their work experience. In 2013, they worked as a Research Scientist at the Competence Centre on Health Technologies until April 2017. Katrina then joined TalTech University in 2014 as a Research Assistant. From 2008, they worked as a PhD Candidate at Tallinn University of Technology. In 2020, Katrina Laks became the Chief Executive Officer of Migrevention, and in 2022, they became a Founding Member of DTx Estonia.

Katrina Laks pursued their education at TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology. Katrina obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Genetic Engineering from 2003 to 2006. Katrina continued their studies at the same institution and completed their Master's Degree in Genetic Engineering from 2006 to 2008. Eventually, they furthered their education by pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry and Genetic Engineering at TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology, where they enrolled from 2008 to 2019.
