Dean (Scott) Pierson has had a long and successful career in the technology industry. Dean (Scott) began their career in 1988 as a Worldwide Customer Support Engineer and Technology Educator at HP. In this role, they specialized in systems operations and management of Hewlett Packard's proprietary hardware and operating system MPE and MPE/iX, and also delivered over 50 one-week classes in systems operation, systems management, advanced systems management, system performance, database performance, networking configuration, and system migration.
In 1992, they joined Sigma Industries as the General Manager and Chief Technology Officer, where they managed lean manufacturing of an electronic and environmental test laboratory, created sales proposals for space and aero-space component contracts, and managed field operations and compliance for oil and gas operations in the Red River Basin of Oklahoma and Texas.
In 1996, they joined Computer Sciences Corporation as the Global Technology Lead for Midrange Systems (MST) and Senior Computer Scientist, where they had direct operations oversight of sales, software development, finance, facilities, human resources, marketing, professional services, and technical support. Dean (Scott) also facilitated new customer needs analysis, contract variables, key performance indicators, strategic planning, implementation of company standards, global management, systems documentation, operations procedures, technology implementation, high availability configurations, disaster recovery planning, failover testing, vendor management, and customer reporting.
In 2000, they joined Lund Performance Solutions as the President, Director of Consulting and Professional Services, and Chief Software Architect. In this role, they had direct operations oversight of sales, finance, facilities, human resources, marketing, professional services, and technical support. Dean (Scott) also worked as a senior consultant in analysis, delivery, review, and coordination of all project management, systems analysis, product development, and technical support for a 39 employee $12M organization. Dean (Scott) also designed and reengineered a multi-platform mid-range computing systems performance management software solution that ran on 8 different operating systems including Unix, Linux, Solaris, MPE and Windows operating systems and delivered data to terminal, web, tablet and smart devices.
In 2004, they joined Wood Castle Fine Furniture as the Chief Operations Officer, where they had direct operations oversight for all aspects of production including scheduling, information systems, raw inventory, purchasing, human resources, training, budgeting, financial performance, safety, and warehouse management. Dean (Scott) also designed and implemented material requirements planning (MRP) in Microsoft Access based information system that incorporated visual systems to present data for all manufacturing departments in the daily, weekly, and monthly planning of production, leading to predictable and repeatable on-time delivery to required customer schedules. Dean (Scott) also created cost and productivity tools contributing to industry leading employee efficiency as measured by productivity per hour per employee (PHPE) increasing over 39% in 14 years, currently exceeding industry specific metrics for wood manufacturing by almost 50%.
In 2020, they joined a Startup as the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations. Finally, in 2021, they joined MIE Solutions as the Chief Operations Officer, where they are helping the business to position itself for its next chapter of growth. Dean (Scott) is equally comfortable in the board room as rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands dirty to solve problems, and is focussed on results, yet understanding that it takes a village to deliver them.
Dean (Scott) Pierson received their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - emphasis Computer Information Systems from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona. Prior to that, they attended Tustin High School.
