Claudia Hicks

Claudia Hicks, PhD, currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Middle Tennessee State University since August 2022, teaching reading to freshmen who did not meet the qualifying ACT score in conjunction with their African American course. Claudia has extensive experience in school administration, working with Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) since July 2015 as a School Administrator for Priority Schools, directly engaging with eight priority schools under the Executive Director of the Priority School District Office. Prior roles at MNPS include serving as a 120 Day School Administrator from 2009 to 2018 and as Principal of Glenview Elementary from August 1997 to July 2013. Additionally, Claudia has experience as a Principal Consultant/Advisory Counsel for the State of Tennessee, where leadership in addressing needs and concerns of local principals was emphasized. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy from Middle Tennessee State University, an Educational Specialist Degree, a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and a Master’s Degree in Reading/Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee State University.
