Rodney Stokes is an experienced public servant with a career spanning several decades in natural resources, outdoor recreation, and civic engagement. Currently serving as the Special Advisor for City PlaceMaking in the Office of Governor Rick Snyder, Stokes focuses on assisting Michigan cities with the development and enhancement of public spaces. Stokes has previously held significant positions including Director of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Lake Erie Regional Director for the State of Michigan DNRE, and Chief of Staff for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Stokes also led State Parks and worked in Parks and Recreation for the City of Detroit. Stokes holds a Master’s degree in Parks and Recreation Resources from Michigan State University and a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration from Tennessee State University.
