Victor Benitez

A Cuban immigrant, Victor M. Benitez, PE moved to New York in 1957 at the age of 18 to study civil engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy. Due to the political turmoil in Cuba in 1959, Victor, while still in college, married his beloved high school sweetheart, and brought her to the United States as well. In 1961, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. After his graduation, Victor and his growing family moved to Rochester where he began his professional career at Erdman, Anthony & Associates. In 1969, they made the move to Miami where he started working at Beiswenger, Hoch & Associates. In 1971, Victor earned his Florida professional engineering license and continued to further his career. Seven years later he was appointed Vice President.

With the dream of having a small, family-oriented engineering firm, Victor founded Metric Engineering, Inc. on July 27, 1976 with only 3 employees. Due to his dedication and tenacity, Metric has evolved over the years from a small DBE firm into one of the leading professional civil engineering firms in Florida with a staff of almost 400 strong. Victor’s original vision remains as the foundation of the company today: upholding the tradition of providing the resources of a large, national firm, while maintaining the personalized service of a small company.
