Taco Cohen is an AI Research Scientist at Meta since January 2024, focusing on reinforcement learning and large language models for code generation. Previously, Taco served as a Principal Engineer and Senior Staff Research Scientist at Qualcomm from August 2017 to December 2023. Taco’s academic background includes a PhD in Machine Learning from the University of Amsterdam, where research involved equivariant convolutional networks, and a cum laude MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the same institution. Early career experiences include co-founding Scyfer B.V., a machine learning startup, as well as internships at OpenAI and Google DeepMind, working on unsupervised learning. Additionally, Taco has experience as a teaching assistant in Artificial Intelligence and has a background in game programming.
