Dr. Brody is the former president of Johns Hopkins University and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies (La Jolla, CA). He received his B.S./M.S. at MIT in electrical engineering and computer science, and M.D./Ph.D. (EE) from Stanford University. After serving as Professor of Radiology and Electrical Engineering at Stanford, he co-founded Resonex, Inc., a manufacturer of open-MRI systems and served as president and CEO. Subsequently he was Radiologist in Chief of the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Provost of the Academic Health Center of the University of Minnesota, before becoming president of the Johns Hopkins University (1996-2009). He has co-founded four medical device companies, is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Engineering, and formerly served on numerous private and public boards, including Medtronic and IBM, MIT and Stanford University.
