Rachel Abela is a Geo-ICT Consultant at Merkator since March 2023, specializing in business and technical analysis, along with the development of geospatial workflows and applications utilizing ESRI and open-source solutions. Prior experience includes serving as a GIS Engineer at Esri BeLux from September 2017 to February 2023, and a Teacher of Geography at the St. Michael Foundation for Education in early 2015. Additional roles comprise administrative work at San Andrea School (Senior) and teaching English at Sprachcaffe in Malta between 2008 and 2011. Rachel holds a Master of Science in Geography with a focus on Geographic Information Systems from both Vrije Universiteit Brussel and KU Leuven, as well as a post-graduate diploma in Sustainable Environmental Resources Management from James Madison University and the University of Malta, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of Malta.
