Steven Gooden is the Merit Philharmonic Orchestra Director and Conductor at the Merit School of Music, a position held since February 2012. Previously, Steven served as the Assistant Conductor for the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras from September 2015 to November 2022. Steven earned a Master of Arts in Clarinet Performance and Literature from Northwestern University between 2010 and 2012 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Georgia State University, completed in May 2010.
