Babak Goshayeshi is an experienced data science professional with a strong background in scientific software engineering and research. Currently serving as Associate Director of Data Science at Merck since May 2018, Babak previously held the position of Senior Scientific Software Engineer at the same company. Prior to this, Babak worked as a Research Associate at the University of Utah from November 2015 to April 2018, where significant contributions included enhancing Uintah software performance and developing a cost-efficient particle-in-cell interpolation algorithm alongside a GPU engine that dramatically improved computation speed. Additionally, during a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Utah from September 2014 to 2015, Babak focused on modeling for a novel flash ironmaking process and creating simulation infrastructure. Babak earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah in 2014, a Master's Degree in Energy Systems from Sharif University of Technology in 2009, and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Azad University in 2007.
