Joshua Berkson has a diverse work experience. Joshua is currently the owner of Amara, a contemporary coastal Italian cuisine restaurant in Madison, Wisconsin. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Executive Officer of Rule No. 1 Hospitality Group, which is based in Madison. Before entering the hospitality industry, Berkson was a restaurant owner at Lucille. Joshua also co-founded and co-owned Merchant, a craft cocktail bar and farm-to-table restaurant in Downtown Madison. Additionally, Joshua Berkson worked as an independent marketing consultant for various global specialty retail and financial services clients from 2002 to 2010.

Joshua Berkson has a diverse education history that spans several institutions and fields of study. In 1996, they enrolled at Washington University in St. Louis and pursued a degree in Music, which they completed in 1998. Following this, from 1988 to 2000, they attended New York University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Music and Business. Lastly, in 2004 to 2005, they attended the International Culinary Center, where they completed the Le Grand Diplôme in Culinary Arts.
