Doug Marks has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and positions. Doug started their career as a Junior Specialist at UCSC Nanopore Group, where they conducted research and published in Nature Biotechnology. Doug pursued a Ph.D. in Bioengineering at UC Berkeley - UCSF Graduate Program but dropped out to explore community development. Doug then co-founded and served as the CTO of Concrn, where they designed and directed technology development for a compassionate response network.
After that, Doug founded The Copper Theater, an event production group emphasizing immediacy, immersiveness, and gifting in art and music events. Doug also worked as a Builder and Handyman for a brief period before becoming a Project Manager at One Hat One Hand, a custom design and fabrication shop. During their tenure, they further developed their management and fabrication skills.
Doug's experience continued as a Production Manager at Better Place Forests, where they managed work flows for a wide range of products from concept design to delivery and installation. Doug also worked as a Producer within the same organization. Subsequently, they joined ACV Consulting as a Retail Production Consultant, providing expert brand marketing and retail consulting to clients globally. Currently, Doug holds the position of Production Manager at Meow Wolf. Doug Marks completed their education history with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Doug attended the university from 2008 to 2012. After that, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, San Francisco from 2013 to 2014. In addition to their academic achievements, Doug obtained certification as a Mental Health First Aid Certified (MHFA Certified) from the institution Mental Health First Aid in May 2015.
