Catarina Mendes is an analytical expert currently serving as a Research Associate at Melt&Marble since February 2023. Prior to this role, Catarina worked as a Ph.D. Candidate at the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development from September 2021 to February 2023, with funding from FCT. Catarina held the position of Visiting PhD Candidate at the University of Copenhagen in late 2020, focusing on Advanced Analytical Chemistry. Additional experience includes a Research Fellow at Zeyton Nutraceuticals, a Central Stability Analyst at Hovione, and a Research Fellow at Universidade Nova de Lisboa in collaboration with Hovione. Catarina began a career in quality control as a Quality Control Chemist at SAPEC Química, SA and also completed an internship at IPQ - Instituto Português da Qualidade. Catarina's educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Food Science from the University of Évora and a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Bioorganic Chemistry and Applied Chemistry, respectively, from NOVA School of Science and Technology.
