Dr. Hai Shiene Chen was educated at The Second Military Medical University (SMMU) in Shanghai, China. He received his Medical Degree in 1983 upon graduating in the top 2% of his class. He has been listed in the “Best Graduated Students” category and presented at SMMU history museum.
Between 1986 and 1988, Dr. Chen trained at Harvard Medical School in the field of cancer research. In 1990, Dr. Chen obtained a M. Sc. Degree from the University of Toronto and while there, directed an extensive research project on HIV. From 1991 to 1996, Dr. Chen was the Managing Director for the Canadian Genetic Disease Network’s Core Facility. In 1995, Dr. Chen founded ACGT Corporation, which, in a few short years, became a leader in Canada’s DNA industry. Dr. Chen also founded two Chinese companies: Haixing Biotech Inc. (since 2003) and Biostar Inc. (since 2009) to commercialize ACGT’s technologies in the China market. In 2009, Dr. Chen was honored as one on the top 200 Chinese business executives in the international market. Also in 2009, he was appointed as a leader in the Chinese leadership program, financed by the government, to encourage business initiatives and innovation in China.
Dr. Chen has profound knowledge and relationships with the Chinese medical field and regulatory authorities. He has represented several US medical companies in China to conduct pre-clinical and clinical studies in order to achieve FDA approvals.o (INTEC) and holds a Master’s degree in Project Management from the Escuela de Organizacion Industrial (EOI) of Spain.
