Joël Darius has a diverse work experience in various industries. Joël started their career as a Sales Consultant for StreamZilla at Jet-Stream in 2012. Later, in 2013, they founded Quoins, a mobile payment solution for events and places with unreliable internet connections. In 2014, Joël became the Founder of Merkfabriek, where they served as a strategic craftsman until 2018. Joël also co-founded Bicicletta in 2018, a company aimed at providing premium city bikes for busy individuals. Around the same time, they joined Trendship as an Event Organizer. From 2018 to 2019, they worked as a Docent Ondernemend Gedrag (Teacher of Entrepreneurial Behavior) at Alfa-college, where they helped students develop entrepreneurial skills. In 2018, Joël became a Co-founder of VRIJ-, an organization that focuses on connecting young adults through events. At the same time, they served as an Ambassador for The Social Hub. In 2019, they left Bicicletta and Merkfabriek but continued their work at VRIJ-. In 2017, they took on the role of Head of Innovation at In2, responsible for driving the transition of a traditional media company to focus on digital media. From 2016 to 2021, Joël worked as a Creative Strategist at Mediahuis Noord, responsible for translating marketing challenges into unique strategies and concepts. Most recently, they became a Creative Director and Team Lead at MediahuisX, the creative studio of Mediahuis. Apart from their professional work, Joël also serves as a member of the Advisory Committee for Society at Noorderzon - Festival of Performing Arts & Society.
Joël Darius completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing from Hanzehogeschool Groningen / Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen in 2008. Following this, they pursued a pre-Master program in Master of Science in Business Administration at the University of Groningen from 2008 to 2009.
