Dr. Krummel is the Emile Holman Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine, the Susan B. Ford Surgeon-in-Chief at Lucile Packard Childrenās Hospital, and Co-Director of the Stanford Biodesign Program. He has extensive experience in medical research in the areas of fetal healing, cellular and biochemical mechanisms, and surgical innovation.
Dr. Krummel has also been a pioneer in the application of information technology to enhance the quality and safety of surgical education and reduce its staggering cost.
He is a member of a number of professional societies including the American College of Surgeons, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Society for Clinical Surgery, and the American Surgical Association. In 1997 he was named a Director of the American Board of Surgery. He has served in leadership positions in many surgical organizations, and has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards. Dr. Krummel has lectured throughout the world and is author or co-author of over a hundred publications.
