Neill F. Piland

Dr. Piland is a recognized authority in healthcare economics and research with over forty-five years of experience in health services research, health care financing, and healthcare economics.

Prior to his tenure at Idaho State University, he served as Research Health Scientist, Department of Veterans Affairs; Senior Research Scientist, Medical Group Management Association (MGMA); Director, Policy and Research, Colorado Health Institute; Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometry, University of Colorado School of Medicine; Research Professor, Institute for Health Systems Leadership and Research, University College, University of Denver; Assistant Manager, Health Services Research Group, Stanford Research Institute (SRI); as well as being the Principal Investigator on numerous healthcare research projects.

Dr. Piland earned his Doctorate in Public Health from UCLA and has been the author or co-author of over 100 research studies published in the world’s most prestigious medical and healthcare journals. He is the holder of numerous awards, including the Indian Health Service (USDHHS) Director Award; Professional Leadership Award from the American Lung Association; Scientific Research Award, from the Lovelace Medical Foundation; United States Public Health Service Training Fellowship; among others.
