Deshan Hewawitarana has held a number of positions in the IT and finance industries. In 2017, they began their career at Intertek as a Systems Administrator and Invoice Executive. In 2019, they moved to LB Finance and took on the role of Executive - Value Added Services. In 2020, they joined HSBC as an Executive - Banking Operations. In 2021, they were hired by HCL Technologies Sri Lanka as an Analyst - Operations, and in 2022 they began working as an IT Support Specialist for Matific.

Deshan Hewawitarana obtained a BA (Hons) Business Administration from Birmingham City University in 2021, with a field of study in Business Administration and Management, General. Prior to this, they obtained an Advanced Diploma in Business Management from the National Institute of Business Management in 2018-2019, with a field of study in Business Administration and Management, General. Deshan also obtained an Advanced Certificate in Business Management from the same institute in 2017. Deshan Hewawitarana's education history began in 2008 when they attended Mahanama College. Additionally, they obtained The Fundamentals of Digital Marketing certification from Google in May 2020.
