David R. Burns has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. David R. began their career as a Program Control Analyst at Hughes Aircraft Company in 1983. David R. then served in various roles in the US Air Force, including Air Battle Manager and Captain, before joining GE Capital as a Data Center Operations Leader and GE Six Sigma Quality Master Black Belt - IT Systems.

In 1997, Burns transitioned to the US Air Force Reserve, where they held the position of Major and served as an Exercise Integration Officer. David R. was also called back to Active Duty after 9/11 as an Air Battle Manager, where they led a combat team during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Burns then joined Bank of America, where they held multiple roles, including SVP in Quality & Productivity Executive and Process Design Manager in various divisions of the bank. David R. provided Six Sigma support and managed teams to improve processes and reduce defects and costs.

Following their tenure at Bank of America, Burns worked at Gillette as a Manager in Process Quality, implementing Six Sigma improvement projects. David R. also managed the Help Center's operations roadmap for service delivery improvement.

Burns then served in the Air National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel and Combat Operations Division Chief before joining the MBTA as a Manager in Business Analysis and later as the Director of the Data Strategy Office of Performance Management & Innovation. In these roles, they drove data analytics, reporting, and strategic insights initiatives, including managing and tracking COVID-related spending.

Most recently, Burns worked at Bank of America again as an SVP in Process Design Consultant, where they directed the strategy and implementation of Enterprise Data Management policy and standards for Enterprise Shared Services Operations.

Throughout their career, Burns has demonstrated expertise in data analysis, process improvement, and strategic leadership.

David R. Burns holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Trade and Industrial Teacher Education from California State University, Long Beach. In addition, they have obtained the Tableau Desktop Advanced Calculations Specialist certification from Data Coach in 2021.
