Matthew Spooner has a diverse work experience background. From 2019 onwards, they worked as a Flight Operations Engineer at MartinFederal Consulting, LLC. In this role, they oversaw data transfer and processing for Earth weather monitoring satellites and maintained communication with satellite ground stations. Matthew used SUSE linux for their work.
Prior to this, Matthew worked at the University of Maryland from 2015 to 2019. Matthew held multiple positions during their time there, including Information Technology Support Technician, Lead Designer, Shop Manager, and Intramural Sports Official. In their role as Lead Designer, they developed 3D models for product prototyping and wrote research reports for the Physics Makers organization. Matthew also served as the Shop Manager, overseeing student-led research projects in the Physics Department's Maker Space. Additionally, Matthew worked as an Intramural Sports Official where they officiated sports games on campus.
Before their time at the University of Maryland, Matthew worked as a Teaching Assistant at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in 2014.
Matthew Spooner completed their education at the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2020, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Cybersecurity Management and Policy. Prior to that, they attended the University of Maryland from 2014 to 2019 and earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physics.
